PODCAST: The Maestro with the Knitting Needle

In order of the International Conducting Competition Rotterdam the Dutch pianist and presenter Christiaan Kuyvenhoven made a highly acclaimed PODCAST about Conducting, in which he tries to fulfill his dream: to conduct Mahler’s 5th Symphony! After buying a real baton, he takes lessons from top conductors Antony Hermus and Ed Spanjaard. He scours YouTube for the wise words of Leonard Bernstein, talks to trumpet player Andre Heuvelman about fear-inspiring solos, and dreams of major international careers together with participants in The International Conducting Competition Rotterdam. Will he succeed in mastering this demanding profession? And will he succeed in standing before the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra and leading a successful performance?
