Lockdown: Salut d'amour

On March 12 2021, it was exactly one year ago that the government of the Netherlands decided to have the first COVID-lockdown. The year after that has been a real struggle for many people, and the Residentieorkest decided to greet their beloved audience that day by playing Elgar’s love song “SALUT D’AMOUR”.

Updated Calendar

Due to COVID-19- and travel restrictions, also in the new season 20/21 many of Antony’s long term planned concerts have been cancelled - among others a visit to LOWLANDS with the North Netherlands Orchestra, a tour with TRISTAN UND ISOLDE with Nederlandse Reisopera, a production of Puccini’s FANCIULLA DEL WEST with Opera North, MAHLER 8 with NNO, a series of concerts with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra London and his US-debut with the Oregon Symphony Orchestra.

However, extremely grateful that new moments and opportunities of music making are popping up and coming in, starting next week with Residentieorkest. Of course Antony will be performing with the North Netherlands Orchestra, that reprogrammed its whole fall - as many other orchestras and companies did. He will also be jury member of the International Conducting Competition Rotterdam, and will return to the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra in December.

COVID-19: “Solo for two”, it’s all about connection

“From one day to the next there were no more concerts… The North Netherlands Orchestra came up with "Solo for two": one-on-one concerts by one player for one listener, inspired by Marina Abramović's famous performance The Artist Is Present in MOMA. One remembers: Abramović at a table, silently in eye contact with whoever was watching, after which nothing but looking and probing. It was also about the question of how to communicate something without words.
